Dog & Puppy Obedience Classes in Kemptville
dog school kemptville: Basic Manners Classes for Dogs of all Ages

kemptville dog training to teach manners and stopping unwanted behaviour
Proper manners are about teaching your dog what you’d like them to do instead.
Your dog needs to know how to make good choices when there are people to greet, food to ignore, exciting smells to investigate and a whole world of distractions competing for their attention.
In Basic Manners, we don’t just practice behaviours in a quiet environment. We deliberately introduce distractions and teach your dog how to notice them, think through them and stay connected with you.
Because the goal isn’t a dog who behaves perfectly when everything is easy.
It’s a dog who can think when things get interesting.

What makes Basic Manners different?
Training with purpose.
We don’t just teach your dog a behaviour, we want you to understand why it matters and how to use it in real life.
Throughout the six weeks, you’ll learn games and exercises that build skills such as impulse control, engagement, recall, calm observation, body awareness and thoughtful decision-making.
You’ll also learn how to adjust the training when things aren’t going as planned. If your dog is struggling, we don’t simply ask for more. We teach you how to break the exercise down, create success and gradually increase the challenge.
Because training isn’t about seeing how much your dog can handle.
It’s about helping them learn how to succeed.

Where can you go from after adult Dog and Puppy obedience classes?
Basic Manners gives you and your dog a foundation you can continue to build on.
If you’re looking for a fun way to continue developing your dog’s skills, Agility Foundations is a great next step. It introduces the foundations of agility while continuing to build communication, focus and teamwork.
For teams who would benefit from a slower pace and more individualized attention, Pawsitive Movements offers another way to continue building those skills.
If you’re not sure what’s the best next step for you and your dog, ask us. We’re happy to help you choose a class that makes sense for where you are now.

What Makes Our Kemptville Dog Training Different?
We don’t just teach general commands. We teach dogs how to think.
Most training creates a dog that performs when you’re holding treats or actively watching them. We build something different: a dog that makes good choices on their own, even when life gets chaotic.
Our science-based method develops focus, self-control, and real-world reliability, step by step. Dogs learn to observe their environment and respond thoughtfully rather than simply react.
The result is more than obedience.
It’s a confident dog. Clear communication between you. A partnership that holds up on a busy sidewalk, at the front door, and everywhere in between.
